Marrakech to Erg Chigaga Desert tour 4-day. Erg Chigaga Desert is one of the wildest desert areas in Morocco, offering a more peaceful and less crowded experience compared to other desert spots. It provides a truly authentic adventure, where travelers can enjoy the vast, untouched sand dunes, traditional Berber life, and unforgettable moments in a quieter, more natural setting.
Day 1: Marrakech to Zagora.
Leave Marrakech in the morning towards Zagora. Drive through the High Atlas Mountains and cross the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters high). Stop to visit Ait Ben Haddou, a beautiful old village and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue to Zagora, passing by Ouarzazate and the Draa Valley, known for its palm trees and kasbahs. Arrive in Zagora in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay in the Hotel.
Day 2: Zagora to Erg Chigaga through M’Hamid.
Day 3: Erg Chigaga to Ouarzazate.
Wake up early to see the sunrise over the dunes. Have breakfast at the camp, then drive through the desert, passing by the dry Lake Iriqui and the town of Foum Zguid. Continue to Ouarzazate, also known as the “Hollywood of Africa” because many movies were filmed here. Dinner and overnight stay in a riad in Ouarzazate.
Day 4: Ouarzazate to Marrakech via Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah.
After breakfast, visit the Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate. Drive back to Marrakech, stopping again at Ait Ben Haddou for more sightseeing or pictures. Cross the High Atlas Mountains and arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon. Drop-off at your hotel or riad.
