Halloween brings new menu items to Magic Kingdom this fall, with 2024 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party exclusive snacks, entrees & desserts, plus all-day dishes and drinks available August 9 through October 31, 2024. This food guide shares photos and details about the spook season treats, along with our commentary.

Walt Disney World’s culinary teams have conjured up some frightfully fun delights for you to indulge in during your day trip to Magic Kingdom with more special treats during the 2024 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. During that event, the highlight for many guests is obviously trick or treating, with candy like M&M’s, Snickers, and more.

In addition to that, several restaurants and snack spots will be open and offering even more Halloween-themed items that are available for purchase. If our experiences in the past–and the stock photos and descriptions Disney has shared–are any indication, some of these are treats, whereas some are tricks. Finally, there are a few (technically 17, but still a small number in the grand scheme of things) dishes that are available all-day during the fall season at Magic Kingdom…

There’s also a returning upcharge within the upcharge event: Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace. This features a variety of Halloween-themed sweet treats and specialty drinks, as well as “exclusive” viewing of the fireworks at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace once again does not offer reserved for the Boo to You Parade–the lack of this is a big deal. For most Halloween Parties, reserved viewing for Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular is totally unnecessary. It is nice for the Boo to You Parade, though. Plus, the reserved viewing area is not a good spot for viewing the fireworks (for the best spots, check out our Magic Kingdom Fireworks Viewing Locations Guide).

From our perspective, the fireworks dessert party is a waste of money and time during the 2024 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. We aren’t particularly keen on it during normal nights, but if you’re dead-set on doing the fireworks dessert party in Magic Kingdom, save it for a normal night when Happily Ever After is being performed and crowds for that are worse. It’s literally counterproductive during MNSSHP. (Don’t say we didn’t warn you!)

Turning to commentary, I was really excited when the first four entries on this list–the restaurants along Main Street–all had items that are available during regular park hours at Magic Kingdom. Finally, my perpetual complaint about the Halloween foods (and Magic Kingdom’s atrocious culinary scene, in general) has been addressed!

As it turned out, it had not. Pretty much every entry after that (minus a couple cupcakes and churro) are exclusive to the 2024 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. I really don’t get this approach. I can understand wanting a few party-exclusive snacks, especially photogenic desserts. Those are always a draw at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and do a little to help with event capacity.

But the savory entrees? There’s no way literally anyone has been waiting to buy tickets to the 2024 Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party until seeing what Pecos Bill and Cosmic Ray’s are serving. Upon arrival, there’s likewise no one whose night will be made by the presence of these entrees.

Meanwhile, the menus at both of these colossal counter service restaurants have been bland and boring since the 50th Anniversary ended and the interesting items from that disappeared; having Halloween sandwiches and wings as all-day options would be a much-needed shot in the arm for both quick-service venues.

Beyond that, I’ve always felt it was odd to have so many interesting seasonal entrees at the Halloween or Christmas parties–the average attendee will try maybe one of them, whereas adding these to regular menus gives locals and Annual Passholders an excuse to make repeat visits to Magic Kingdom to try them all. (And Walt Disney World will need all the excuses they can get to boost attendance in August and September!)

With that said, at least you can grab a quick (relatively-speaking) meal at Pecos Bill or Cosmic Ray’s. The most egregious example of paywalling a party menu is Be Our Guest Restaurant, which has an awesome looking seasonal menu that’s exclusive to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party for some dumb reason.

We’ve been defenders of Be Our Guest Restaurant for a while, saying it’s still “worth it” for most first-timers so long as they go in with realistic expectations. But this has clearly become an unpopular opinion, with most fans calling Be Our Guest Restaurant overrated or just flat-out bad. Even though our experiences have been positive, it’s impossible to ignore or overlook those who have had bad meals at Be Our Guest.

A new menu could’ve given it a much-needed shot in the arm! Instead, they’re keeping these great-sounding options exclusive to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. No offense to anyone who books an ADR during event hours, but it’s a waste of time. I’d love to try these dishes and would return specifically for them, but there’s no way on earth I’m spending ~90 minutes of valuable MNSSHP for it. (Maybe if I can order this during the mix-in…but that’s always so hit or miss.)

Speaking of which, that’s the other thing Walt Disney World should change. If they’re going to put these dishes behind the paywall of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, I suppose that’s their prerogative. It’s a stupid choice, but whatever, I guess. However, once paying MNSSHP guests are inside the park, they should be able to buy these things!

I’m so sick of rolling the dice between 4 pm and 5 pm, trying to see if I can order a special dish from one of the counter service restaurants, only to be told it’s not available until 7 pm. (Historically, we’ve had success with this about 25% of the time–but 0% of the time in the last two years.)

My solution is not waiting until 7 pm or simply ordering something different. There’s no way in Hades that I’m eating Magic Kingdom cuisine “for fun.” Instead, I just eat a beef stick out of my camera bag and wait until I’m back in the room at the end of the night for a proper meal. They aren’t making more money this way, at least not from me; they’re making less. Party food exclusivity isn’t really that serious; these dishes should be offered at 4 pm. If day guests use that as a “hack” to buy food to which they otherwise wouldn’t have had access…who cares?!

To end on a positive note, a lot of the food actually sounds really good–which is the whole reason I’m annoying it isn’t available all-day in the first place. That Be Our Guest Restaurant menu sounds fantastic. The additions to Pecos Bill, Cosmic Ray’s, Pinocchio Village Haus, and Friar’s Nook sound really good. Then there are the all-day options at Plaza and Casey’s Corner–I cannot wait to try those! Frankly, this looks like the best lineup for savory snacks and entrees in years at the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. It’ll be impossible to eat them all, but at least there are plenty of choices.
