“Frankie Two Scoops” Swaps Retirement for Smiles at Citizens Bank Park
Frank Mazzuca just wasn’t built for retirement. Months after retiring from his 40-year career at First Pennsylvania Bank, Mazzuca grew restless and took a job as an usher at Veterans Stadium to keep himself busy. More than 25 years later, he now works in the press box at Citizens Bank Park, slinging ice cream to members of the media and earning the nickname “Frankie Two Scoops.” The 82-year-old credits his post-retirement career with keeping him young. In between scoops, he trades banter and friendly barbs with co-workers, visiting journalists and Phillies legends. Cheers to 25 years with the Phillies, Frankie! Have a scoop on us. Better yet, make it two!

Andra Hem, Philly’s Bakery Scene Shine on Food & Wine’s 2024 Global Tastemakers List
Food & Wine has released its 2024 Global Tastemakers list, a roundup of the best culinary experiences from around the world. In a major win for Philly’s cocktail scene, the publication included Rittenhouse Square’s Andra Hem on the list of 15 top bars in the U.S., lauding the lounge’s overall aesthetic and the spot’s admittedly bizarre-sounding (but delicious) lamb-washed bourbon cocktails. Philly also made the list of 10 top U.S. cities for bakeries, anchored by the 120-year-old Isgro Pastries, the much-buzzed-about Machine Shop and Reading Terminal Market’s Beiler’s Doughnuts. Taste officially made.
