Interestingly, Morocco recognizes three New Year traditions: the Islamic New Year, the Amazigh (Berber) New Year, and the Western New Year. But don’t worry—it’s not as complicated as it sounds! For instance, the Islamic New Year, or Hijri, follows the lunar calendar and is marked as a significant religious holiday. The Islamic New Year in 2025 in Morocco will begin the evening of Wed, Jun 25, 2025. I noticed that not many Moroccans celebrate this or don’t make it a huge deal like the Western Gregorian calendar celebration. The Amazigh New Year, also known as Yennayer will be celebrated on January 12, 2025.
Yet, it’s the Western New Year’s Eve on December 31st that steals the show in Marrakech. While it’s more popular among the younger generation, inspired by tourism and global influences, it’s becoming a beloved tradition even for locals. From grand festivities to intimate gatherings, Marrakech offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity to start your year with a spark.
However, don’t wait for the fireworks, local people greeting each other in the streets, or public partying—especially in more traditional neighbourhoods.

Kabana rooftop food and cocktails restaurant is one of the most trendy restaurants in Marrakech. Only a few minutes from the famous Jemaa el-Fna square, Kabana has an amazing view of the Koutoubia mosque, great DJs, international vibes, and good food. They will also have many events during Christmas week.

If you want a more upscale dinner with traditional Moroccan music and dance on the New Year’s EVE program, head to the Comptoir Darna (famous for the belly dancers’ shows), which consists of a restaurant, nightclub and patio. For New Year’s Eve 2025, they will have a beautiful evening, a fusion between East and West: traditional musicians, oriental dancers, DJs and other performers. It’s almost always fully booked, so make sure you make a reservation now.

Palais Dar Soukkar offers international, Moroccan and Asian cuisine in an enchanting indoor “Arabian nights” atmosphere or outside under the stars of Marrakesh. This place is known for good live shows. Located 15 min drive from the city centre (on the route to Ourika Valley – so you definitely need to arrange private transfer), it also has a lounge if you want to enjoy a drink in a relaxing and chic spirit. By the way. Dar Soukkar in Arabic means”Sugar factory “. For New Year’s Eve 2025 in Marrakech, they will offer a big live show with musicians, dancers etc.

Azar is a stylish Lebanese and Moroccan restaurant with live music, belly dancers show a lounge and a shisha bar. The perfect place to discover the oriental way in Marrakech. Entrepotes is a lounge, bar and tapas restaurant with good vibes, setting, and music. My favourite part of Entrepotes is the inside garden. If you book in advance, ask to have a place there. If you want a nice dinner for an affordable price (compared to other places), a cosy setting, mingle with locals, head to Enrepotes and for dances, continue to some nightclubs. They are often full, so make sure you book in advance.

RAK ELECTRONIC organised great electronic music parties in off-beaten-path locations. It’s time for another marathon party together in the beautiful Agafay Desert. Their playground will be the Agafay desert Camp with 16 hours of music and dance together under the stars with a huge lineup of grooves.
Agafay Stone Desert is one hour away from Marrakech, so it is better to book tents and transfers there as well. Shared tents cost 175 euros per person with an entry ticket, and a double tent costs 450 euros.

Option 2: A table in the restaurant area with a view of the Live Band, priced at 2450 MAD per person.

If you are in the mood for dinner, dance, and live music, then dress nicely and head to Épicurien. Épicurien is a blend of chic and glamour: a restaurant and a modern ultra lounge. A live band will start after midnight and before you will have plenty of other entertainment. Before entering Epicurien, you will pass the famous Casino area, so be ready for a night of entertainment.
New Year’s Eve option: dinner with live band, oriental dancers and confetti – 1350MAD per person.
Kosy bar in Marrakech is located in Medina, next to the entrance to its Kasbah district. It has a great location, as Kosy bar is in a square, so a taxi can drop you almost next to – no hustle navigating through the narrow Medina streets. It’s a rooftop restaurant and bar serving Moroccan, International and Japanese fusion cuisine. Kosybar is set over several floors in the corner of Place des Ferblantiers in the Medina, with an indoor bar and restaurant on the lower floors, and, best of all, a lovely and cosy rooftop terrace up top.
